HRV systems are also named MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery).

A well designed and balanced MVHR is an essential part of building passive or low energy build. MVHR conserves energy by recovering heat from extracted air and transferring it to the incoming air.

A MVHR system ensures high air quality whilst maintaining a balance between extraction points located in wet rooms and supply points located in dry rooms.

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery should only be installed in homes or buildings that are airtight and well insulated. Installing a MVHR in a house that is not airtight will reduce the efficiency of the system and make the payback too long.
